TRAINING COURSE

Definition:

 

MA Arabic language and Literature is a program familiarizing student with Arabic language and literature courses. Students will be conferred MA Arabic Language and Literature

 

Program objectives:

Instructing lecturers for postgraduate students of international universities and seminary schools studying Arabic Language and Literature

Instructing researchers in the field

Instructing skillful scholars in the literature of religious contexts particularly the Quran

Instructing disseminators

Note: disseminator here means the one who delivers the message of religion 

  • Instructing distinct students to enter PhD programs

 

Educational Policies: 

 

  • Encouraging students towards research through allocating a minimum 30 per cent of credits units to research-based courses

  • Developing students skills in writing, teaching and translating within the field of Arabic Language and Literature

  • Developing students competency in comprehension of technical texts

  •  Promoting ethical and spiritual values among students in order to internalize morality

  • Developing disseminator’s skills in the field of the Quran and traditions through using relevant resources

  • Developing students’ comprehension of Arabic texts and their capability of assessing and comparing Arabic texts

  • Comprehending Jurisprudence and Principles of Islamic Law

  • Promoting team-working spirit and applying effective educational methods

  • Allocating approximately 50 per cent of credits to seminary course units in order to help develop students skills in seminary courses

  • Having attention to students regional needs

  • Emphasizing on using textbooks which are basic, comparative, brief and practical

  • Presenting a minimum of 40 per cent of course units in Arabic language

 

 

Admission:

 Applicants with bachelor degree in Arabic literature and language can apply for the program.

Note: Applicants with other backgrounds can apply for the program; however, they shall pass pre-requisite course units

 

 

Program structure and duration:

  • Total credits of the program are 64

  • Program structure is credit based and based on semesters

  • Program duration is 5 (6 months) semesters

  • Each theoretical course unit is presented in 16 hours and each practical course unit is presented in 32 hours; run in a 16-weeks semester

Importance and necessity:

Since several of the Islamic sources are written in Arabic language, having competency in Arabic language can effectively help students learn Islamic teachings and disseminate it efficiently. Therefore, it would be necessary to have and run Arabic Language and Literature program.

 

 

Role and effectiveness:

Graduates of the program can become researcher and lecturer in the field of Arabic literature and language. Through mastery in Arabic language, they can disseminate Islamic teachings and promote religious culture in international society and help them know about such sources.
