TRAINING COURSE

Definition:

The PhD Quran and Sciences is the highest academic and specialized program in the field of commentary of Quran which attends to modern sciences. Students carry out a collection of research works as well as taught courses and after successful completion of the program they receive PhD in Comparative Hadith Studies.

Program’s General Objectives:

Instructing researchers and experts in the field of Quran and Sciences
Training lecturers for graduate and postgraduate levels
Expanding the boundaries of knowledge in the area of Quran and Sciences
Laying the groundwork for training Mojtahid in the area of Quran and Sciences
Providing situation for application of Quranic teachings in modern sciences and theorizing in
relevant areas

Educational Policies:

Attaching importance to students’ moral and spiritual development
Encouraging students in research through allocating a minimum of 30 per cent of course unit times to research work (apart from dissertation)
Expanding students’ skills in teaching, disseminating, translating and authoring
Strengthening students’ proficiency in debates, criticizing and evaluating various fields and responding to modern questions and doubts regarding Quran and Sciences.
Attaching importance to innovation and putting forward of theories and knowledge in Quran and Sciences
Directing students and their dissertations to a special scientific field

Admission:

Students are selected from relevant MA graduates. The process of admission is based on the Admission General and Specific Regulations.

Note (1):Students with other academic backgrounds must pass the prerequisites according to the regulations.

Note (2):Students with master degrees in the Humanities and experimental sciences and the ones with no seminary background are prioritized in admission.

Program Structure:

PhD Shiite History contains 68 credits
The program is studied over a maximum of 5 years (10 semesters)
Students must submit an 18-credit dissertation
Theoretical and practical credits are respectively 16 and 32 hours.
Students can take between 6 to 10 credits each semester except for the 18-credit dissertation

Importance and Necessity:

Analyzing interdisciplinary subjects is one of the necessities of our time; particularly the relation of the Quran and experimental Sciences and the Humanities. Through such analysis, the fundamentals of the Humanities can be organized by using the Quranic teachings and on the other hand, the Quran can be better understood using the developments of experimental Sciences.

Role and Effectiveness:

The Quran and Sciences interdisciplinary program plays a specific part in expansion of Humanities courses as well as commentary of the Quran program and producing knowledge in the mentioned fields. It helps students to get a better understanding of Quran commentary and set forward academic theories based on teachings of the Quran, it is particularly effective in some fields namely, Politics, Pedagogical Studies, Management and Economics.
