TRAINING COURSE

Definition:

The MA Quranic Commentary and Quranic Studies program is a specialized course for the students to acquire a profound knowledge about the relevant modules. The students will receive MA in Quranic Commentary and Quranic Studies after successful completion of the program.

Program’s General Objectives:

Training lecturers for BA programs to work in international seminary schools and universities in the fields relevant to Quranic Commentary and Quranic Studies;
Training researchers in related programs
Instructing skilled individuals in the fields of Quranic Commentary and Quranic Studies
Training talented students in order to enter doctoral level in relevant programs

Educational Objectives and Policies:

Creating the motivation for research in students through allocating 30% of credits to research works in related courses
Avoiding over-reading in classes
Developing the skills at authoring, teaching and translating in related fields
Developing the ability for using technical Arabic and English texts related to the Quranic Commentary and Quranic Studies
Internalizing ethical and moral traits in students
Developing a deep understanding and critical and comparative skills of texts related to Quranic Commentary and Quranic Studies
Logical understanding of Quranic Commentary and Quranic Studies
Creating the skills at dissemination of the Quran and traditions using relevant academic sources
Preparing and encouraging students to continue their education in doctoral level
Understanding logical jurisprudence and principles of Islamic law based on requirements
Familiarity with the orientalists’ viewpoints in Quranic Commentary and Quranic Studies and critically analyzing them
Creating the ability of using commentary of the Quran (intermediate level) according to the related principles and basics
Acquiring a general understanding about teachings of the Quran and Ahl-e Bayt
Developing a student-oriented syllabus

Program Structure:

There are a total of 32 credit units including dissertation plus a 32 prerequisite credits (seminary courses and special requirements) studied over 5 semesters. (Maximum credits presented per semesters are 14)
Theoretical credits are16 hours studied over 16-week semesters
Students should submit a dissertation which accounts for 4 credits

Importance and Necessity:

Since the Holy Quran is the major source in Islam and as it provides the religious needs of Muslims and because having this knowledge is necessary for researching and teaching Islamic subjects, it is a must to have Quranic Commentary and Quranic Studies program as an independent program so that the need of Islamic world for the lecturers and researchers is fulfilled.

Role and Effectiveness:

The graduates of this program, with the knowledge acquired, can become researchers and lecturers in relevant courses and play an effective role in elevation and expansion of Islamic culture and explain for the others to know more about Islam. They can also acquire the knowledge needed for entry to doctoral level and advance to PhD and be more efficient in the aforesaid plans.
