Definition: The BA Islamic Teachings and Sociology is a program in which the participants will learn specialized course units of sociology and after successful completion of the course will be awarded BA in Islamic Teaching in the filed of Sociology. Objectives: Teaching seminary courses (equal to BA level of the university); Strengthening religious and cognitive fundamentals of the learners; Leading students towards the modern sciences; Instructing experts in social sciences with religious approaches; Increasing the skills of the students in dissemination and teaching; Preparing the students to advance to postgraduate level in programs related to sociology; Developing research skills in sociology and Islamic studies in students. Importance and Necessity: Teaching the major issues of sociology is important due to several reasons, i.e. by awareness of the principles of the thinking methods through this field of study one can develop a deeper and different point of view towards social environment and explain the social events scientifically and as a result of that knowledge, they can resolve social problems. Through this science one can distinguish between cultural differences of societies and by a proper plan and cultural awareness of the other societies affect the lives of the people living in the given society. Especially if this knowledge comes with religious commitment and its teachings it would be more reliable and the explanations more realistic. Program Structure: The BA Islamic teachings and Social studies is a program is studied over 5 years. Educational System is credit based. Each theoretical and practical credit is 16 and 32 hours respectively which are presented in a 16 week semester. Credit Units: There are a total of 177 credits in the BA Islamic Teachings and Sociology. The majority of the credits are theoretical and research-based which are presented during the teaching time. The courses are divided into four categories as 1. Seminary courses, 2. General courses, the ones common with other programs, 3. Core courses, 4. Role and Effectiveness: Through the knowledge and skills acquired in the field of Sociology, the students are capable of effectively disseminating religion and having deeper effects on the people; they can defend the pure Islam and expand it as well. They can also advance to postgraduate level in sociology and carry out research and analyze and explain social phenomenon and by the skills they develop, they can manage companies, economic enterprises, political and cultural institutions and beside having an occupation for them they have an effective role in expansion and elevation of Islamic culture and the school of Ahl-e Bayt (a.s).
