Definition: The MA Islamic Sects is a specialized program aiming at teaching subjects such as theology, jurisprudence and mysticism in the major Islamic sects. Students will receive MA in Islamic Sects after successful completion of the program. Program Aims:
Importance and Necessity: Having the knowledge of Islamic sects is important because: Knowing about the viewpoints of Islamic sects and being informed about how they solve the ideological issues and their analysis and reasoning for their solutions can help other religions. The criticisms directed to the sects will then be academic and the false viewpoints regarding the Islamic sects will be eliminated. Role and effectiveness: The graduates of the program with their knowledge of Islamic sects will be able to work in academic institutions as effective researchers in the area of Islamic sects. Since they have a deep understanding of sects they can take effective steps in creating cohesion and unity of Islam world and eliminate many of the misunderstandings among Islamic sects.
