TRAINING COURSE

Definition:

The MA Islamic Sects is a specialized program aiming at teaching subjects such as theology, jurisprudence and mysticism in the major Islamic sects. Students will receive MA in Islamic Sects after successful completion of the program.

Program Aims:

Instructing lecturer for BA programs in the field of Islamic Sects
Training researcher in relevant subjects
Developing the students ability in answering the doubts raised by the different Islamic sects
Learning the common grounds between Islamic sects against the oppositions.
Developing the skills used in discussions and dialogue
Having attention to the students’ regional needs
Training disseminator

Importance and Necessity:

Having the knowledge of Islamic sects is important because:

Knowing about the viewpoints of Islamic sects and being informed about how they solve the ideological issues and their analysis and reasoning for their solutions can help other religions. The criticisms directed to the sects will then be academic and the false viewpoints regarding the Islamic sects will be eliminated.

Role and effectiveness:

The graduates of the program with their knowledge of Islamic sects will be able to work in academic institutions as effective researchers in the area of Islamic sects. Since they have a deep understanding of sects they can take effective steps in creating cohesion and unity of Islam world and eliminate many of the misunderstandings among Islamic sects.

Program Structure:

There are a total of 64 credits studied over 5 semesters.
The theoretical and practical credits are 16 and 32 hours respectively.
Participants must submit a dissertation counting for 4 credits.
