TRAINING COURSE

About the Program

History of Islam is an academic course which assesses the historical events from early Islam until the modern time. The historical domain covers in the East the regions of Middle East, Caucasus, India; in the West Spain, Morocco, north of Africa and Ottoman. The course is not limited to the political history of the mentioned regions, but rather deals with intellectual history, Islamic civilization, social, economical and religious status of the regions. The program has an analytical and academic approach in dealing with the historical events. The Shia and contemporary history are the chief aspects of the History of Islam and there has been an effort to have some titles for them in the program. The program has put together and present seminary and academic courses.

Objectives:

The program’s objectives are:

Being capable of defending Islam in historical domains academically, logically and correctly.
Recognizing the true status of Islamic civilization
Recognizing Shiism as one of the most effective Islamic groups
Being capable of answering the doubts about the history of Islam and Shiism
Gaining experience about the creation, growth, decline and fall of Muslim governments
Recognizing the historical movement of Islamic thoughts
Recognizing talented individuals and helping them in their prospective educations
Training effective researchers to develop and expand knowledge in the filed of history

Program Structure

The program is studied over 5 years and is credit based. Each theoretical credit is 16 hours, presented in a semester of 16 weeks. Each practical credit is 32 hours.

Credits

Total credits in BA History of Islam is 177. The majority of the courses are theoretical and are based on research. The courses are divided into 4 sections as:

Capabilities:

On successful completion of the course, students are expected to teach and research about relevant subjects, to effectively cooperate with academic centers, or continue their education and have a more effective role in expansion and elevation of Islamic culture and civilization and introducing it to different societies and be effective in achieving the mentioned objectives.
