About the Program History of Islam is an academic course which assesses the historical events from early Islam until the modern time. The historical domain covers in the East the regions of Middle East, Caucasus, India; in the West Spain, Morocco, north of Africa and Ottoman. The course is not limited to the political history of the mentioned regions, but rather deals with intellectual history, Islamic civilization, social, economical and religious status of the regions. The program has an analytical and academic approach in dealing with the historical events. The Shia and contemporary history are the chief aspects of the History of Islam and there has been an effort to have some titles for them in the program. Program Structure The program is studied over 5 years and is credit based. Each theoretical credit is 16 hours, presented in a semester of 16 weeks. Each practical credit is 32 hours.
