Definition:
In PhD Principles of Islamic Law students are familiarized with the basics of Islamic law and after successful completion of the programme they receive their doctoral degree.

Programme’s aims:
Instructing lecturers in highest academic levels in the field of Principles of Islamic Law;
Instructing theorist researchers in the field of Principles of Islamic Law;
Improving academic background of students to the extent at which student can apply reasoning and theorize in the field of Principles of Islamic Law;
Participating in academic activities in the highest academic levels in various subjects, particularly in Principles of Islamic Law;

Academic Goals and Policies:
Attention to the principles of Islamic viewpoints
Special attention to questions about Islam

Admission:
Postgraduate students of Principles of Islamic Law can apply for PhD Principles of Islamic Law.
Note: students with other academic backgrounds can apply for the programme; however, they are required to pass some pre-requisite course units if admitted.

Programme’s Structure:
Total course units are 78; students cover course units including thesis in 10 semesters.
Programme structure is course unit-based studied in semesters
Each theoretical course unit is 16 hours and practical ones are 32 hours; there is a research approach in the entire courses
Students are required to pass a thesis which is worth 18 credits.

Necessity and importance:

The domain of principles of Islamic law is constantly expanding and new questions and issues are raised. It is necessary to run doctoral programme (research-based and taught) in principles of Islamic law in order to respond to the vast needs of societies in an academic and practical and to fulfill the need for enriching seminary students in religious sciences and improving their academic skills including deduction from (the Quran, Sunnah and intellect).

Role and skills of graduates:

After successful completion of the programme, students are competent in the field of principles of Islamic Law. With the acquired knowledge they can develop theories, teach or continue their education in higher levels.
